Sanitary need

Illustration.png

After an observation process in a young party environment , we realize that sometimes people consume drinks from the same glass or container, this is unhygienic and can often promote the spread of diseases by mouth if any of the members are sick. We consider this as an opportunity to improve people's health and quality of life and reduce the possibility of disease transmission.

Concept

The concept is born from the search of a character that revolves around this type of social gatherings with the presence of alcohol generally. Tufo is established as one more member in meetings, a friend who seeks to consume alcohol with his friends, have a good time and support LGBT community. However, Tufo seeks to generate ignorance or confusion in the user since he tries to associate the form with something. This is an analogy connected to the confusion that someone may feel while being drunk.

Ideation

The ideation process beginnined with some sketches linked to the process of systematic design, where different formal aesthetic variations were evaluated to arrive to the final proposal: a drink identifier for any type of glass. Design requirements included factors such as ease of production, ease of cleaning, easy adaptation to any environment, and a pleasing and friendly design for alcohol consumers.

Prototyping

The prototyping process started with a first design proposal that did not accomplished the initally defined requirements. For the realization of the products, a high quality 3D printing in ABS was made for the mold, leaving the air flows and tolerances necessary for optimal production and less waste of material. Secondly, Dragon Skin high density silicone was used for the product, which was subsequently pigmented with Silc-Pig for each Tufo. The final design proposal is currently being developed.

Specifications.

- Final product material: Dragon Skin 30 (Smooth-On) silicone pigmented with Silc-Pig pigments.

- Mold material: 3D printing - ABS or PLA.

- Final product size: 3.0 mm heigh x 1.8 mm wide
